This course leads to the LF Class High-Risk Work (HRW) Forklift Licence as defined in the National Standards for “Licensing Persons Performing High-Risk Work. The course is suitable to all operators working in warehouse, transport, construction, events and retail.

The training requires the operator to have the ability to plan the work, carry out basic forklift checks, shift loads in a safe manner, close down and secure equipment once the job is finished.

This course is based on the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work and it satisfied territory and state licensing requirements. Legislation requires Forklift refresher training every five (5) years.

Course Description

This course specifies the skills and knowledge required to operate a forklift truck safely in accordance with all relevant legislative requirements.

This course specifies the outcomes needed to operate a powered industrial truck equipped with a mast and an elevating load carriage to which is attached a pair of fork arms or other attachment, for licensing purpose.

This course requires a person operating a forklift truck to:

  • plan for the work/task
  • prepare for the work/task
  • perform work/task
  • pack up

Entry Requirements

To be able to enrol this training course with TP Training, participants must:

  • Be 18 years of age and above
  • Provide original ID documents that add up to at least 100 points in line with SafeWork NSW ID points table. Within these documents, you must be able to show your photo ID, date of birth, signature, and current residential address.
  • Have physically ability to demonstrate required skills
  • Provide Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
  • Complete TP Training Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment

Attendance

This course requires 2 days attendance of training and 1-day assessment.

Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time of the course to complete the necessary enrolment paperwork.

If participants arrive 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time, entry to the course will be refused.

Participants need to wear suitable work boots, long trousers, long sleeved shirt, hat and a high visibility vest (or shirt) for all practical training and assessments.

Training & Assessments

Training and assessment will take place in TP Training by a qualified Trainer monitoring your progress.

The course is delivered with both theory and practical elements and is completed via a simulated work environment. The delivery of training will include a mixture of classroom delivery, group discussions and practical demonstration.

Students must complete their SafeWork NSW assessment within 90 days of the completion of the 2-days training. Assessment is used to provide you with feedback on your progress and to measure your skills and knowledge against the training qualification requirements and those of the industry. The assessment process may include written questions, case studies and practical demonstrations.

Certification

Once the SafeWork NSW assessment has been successfully completed, you will receive a SafeWork NSW Notice of Satisfactory Assessment (NSA) which is valid for 60 days. A licence application fee is payable to Australia Post for the licence card which is issued by SafeWork NSW and is nationally recognised.

After successful completion of both your 2-days class-room based training and 1-day SafeWork NSW assessment, you will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by TP Training listing the unit of competency included in this training course.
